Standout style, adventure-ready. Bringing spice to life is what the Toyota Aygo X was made for. Its striking bi-tone design and sporty wedged roofline guarantee it attracts all the right attention. At the front, high-tech, body-hugging lights and a large front grille and skid plate add genuine go-anywhere attitude. An integrated bicycle-holder mount ensures it’s always ready for adventure, while a door mirror-mounted action camera is there to capture those moments that just have to be shared.

Born in Europe. One thread runs through the Toyota Aygo X: Europe. The concept’s bold, spicy look was designed by a dedicated team at ED2, Toyota’s European Design Headquarters in France. The small group’s big focus was Europe’s young, urban-dwellers – drivers who demand flair and distinctiveness so they can express their personality while having fun behind the wheel.

The all-new Toyota Aygo X has been unveiled. Toyota worked with Peugeot and Citroen to build the first two versions of its smallest vehicle in Europe, but that is no longer the case with the new Aygo, which is an all-Toyota effort. In 2014, the trio received a second-generation as radically revised versions of the original models, although Peugeot and Citroen decided not to replace them. The production version of the Aygo X Prologue will arrive in Europe in 2022 with a single non-hybrid engine choice, retaining most of the concept car's distinctive appearance. The Aygo X is a city vehicle in the A-Segment that incorporates crossover characteristics.

Toyota's designers performed an excellent job converting the concept's design to the manufacturing vehicle. The third-generation Aygo X is based on the GA-B platform and features a retractable fabric canopy to keep the open-air feel. The 17- or 18-inch large-diameter wheels have a good effect on the car's proportions while enhancing ground clearance by 11mm.

The plastic wrapping surrounding the wheel arches matches the bi-tone treatment of the aggressively contoured bodywork, giving the crossover a more appealing appearance. The full-LED headlights and taillights also sport contemporary graphics. The Aygo X has a length of 3,700 mm, a width of 1,740 mm, and a height of 1,525 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,430 mm and a curb weight of 940 kg.

The load capacity is 231 liters with the tonneau cover-up, and 829 liters with the rear seats folding. Inside, the style is likewise geared at a younger audience, with curved lines and color accents that mirror the outside. Ambient lighting and wireless charging are still available on the Aygo X, as are full-LED headlights and the capability for over-the-air upgrades. Adaptive cruise control, night pedestrian recognition, lane tracing assist, and daytime bicycle identification are just a handful of the safety features available.

The Toyota Smart Connect infotainment system has a 9-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, as well as over-the-air updates and cloud-based navigation. The three-spoke steering wheel has integrated buttons, there's a tiny display on the instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a JBL 4-speaker audio system in the trunk with a 300W amplifier and a 200 mm subwoofer.

A five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission is available for the three-cylinder engine. There is no AWD option and power with both transmissions goes to the front wheels. The manual-equipped model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 15.6 seconds and tops out at 158 km/h, while the S-CVT accelerates in 15.5 seconds and tops out at 151 km/h.

Toyota claims a WLTP combined fuel economy of 4.7 lt/100km with the manual transmission and 4.9 lt/100km with the CVT transmission. In the combined cycle, carbon dioxide emissions are 107 g/km. The Aygo X weighs between 940 and 1,015 kg, depending on trim level and accessories. Cardamon, Chilli, Ginger, and Juniper are among Aygo X's bright color options, which are all blended with black on the b-pillars, roof, and rear area.

While prices haven’t been announced yet, it’s highly likely that it will be slightly more expensive than the current Aygo. Around £15,000 likely is a safe bet.
