2023 Genesis G90 Review, Specs, Price
The most premium Genesis vehicle, the G90 sedan, has undergone a radical facelift for the 2023 model year, bringing it into the twenty-first century. The G90's exterior design is based on that of the G80 sedan and GV80 SUV, with a few unique elements to signify its position at the top of the company's model hierarchy. The base powertrain consists of a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine that generates 375 horsepower. Instead of the 5.0-liter V-8 that was an upgrade engine in the 2022 model, a 409-hp twin-turbo V-6 with an electronic supercharger is available. Both powertrains are smooth and quiet, which contributes to the G90's soothing cabin, which is meant to pamper passengers with an abundance of surprise goodies. For instance, an on-board fragrance diffuser can fill the cabin with a calming perfume while an air purifier prevents outside odors from entering. All G90 vehicles are outfitted with nappa leather upholstery, genuine wood trim, massaging front seats, and standard power-operated doors that function as valets. The G90 has been completely redesigned for 2023, bringing the flagship luxury sedan's design in line with the rest of the Genesis series. Pricing and Purchasing Decisions: Base $89,495. E-supercharged price of $99,795
The G90 continues its value-oriented approach of undercutting the Mercedes-Benz S-class, but the base price of the 2022 model has grown dramatically. The only options for the G90 are external and interior colors and the choice between the base turbo V-6 engine and a more potent turbocharged or supercharged engine. Obviously, we would choose the latter. The G90's amenities are maximized by selecting the E-supercharged variant, which includes reclining rear seats with heat, ventilation, and massage.
Engine, transmission, and performance are considered. This year, the G90 has replaced its 5.0-liter V-8 engine with a twin-turbocharged V-6 that is available in two power outputs; both are mated to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The regular engine produces 375 horsepower, while the E-supercharged model produces 409 horsepower with the help of a 48-volt hybrid system and an electric supercharger. The G90 accelerated from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds when equipped with the higher-output engine, which is an incredibly rapid speed for such a huge sedan. The G90 offers optional air suspension and a chauffeur driving mode designed to provide passengers with a particularly comfortable ride. Our initial test drive was conducted in a G90 equipped with the more potent of the two powertrains and air springs, which provided an exceptional ride and smooth acceleration. The G90's handling is not as sharp as that of a sports sedan, but it holds its own in turns. Those who purchase the G90 for its laid-back personality will be satisfied. However, driving enthusiasts will be disappointed.
Economy of Fuel and Real-World MPG The G90 with the 375-hp twin-turbo V-6 will be the most fuel-efficient. This model is rated at 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Choosing the more powerful 409-hp engine reduces these figures to 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. On our highway fuel efficiency test route at 75 mph, the G90 equipped with the E-supercharged engine achieved 29 mpg. To learn more about the G90's fuel economy, please visit the EPA's website.

The interior, the comfort, and the cargo space The interior of the 2023 Infiniti G90 also receives a redesign to help it compete with rivals such as the Audi A8 and the BMW 7-series. It will include a new design and luxurious materials. The front and rear passenger compartments are spacious, and Genesis has included a number of features designed to enhance the luxury experience. For instance, an onboard aroma diffuser and an anti-microbial sanitation system that clean both the air and goods brought into the vehicle, such as smartphones Obviously, extras such as front massage seats and a high-end sound system are also incorporated. All models feature soft Nappa leather upholstery, power-operated rear sunshades, and active noise cancellation to maintain a whisper-quiet interior. The back seats can be reclined, and massagers can be added if desired.
The G90's look, however, pales in comparison to its interior. A quick pull on the pop-out door handle shows an outstanding blend of traditional and contemporary features. Sliding into an S-Class might be intimidating because of its enormous portrait screen and eccentric design. In contrast, the G90 adopts a more classic and relaxed approach to luxury, emphasizing horizontal lines and luxurious materials. The distinctive metal inlays look and feel nice, but my favorite element may be the piece that rises up and frames the driver's digital gauge display, which is something I've never seen before. Certainly, the 3D design of the two-spoke steering wheel is another outstanding feature.
The rear seat is spacious enough for three adults, but the G90 is at its best when the middle seat is folded down and transformed into a huge center console. In addition to manipulating the infotainment system on the in-dash display, I can also adjust my seat massage settings and open or close the sunshades from this location. There are also two door buttons on the panel, allowing me to close the doors without having to stretch. For the cleanliness-obsessed, the armrest cubby in the middle of the seat has UV-C lamps that sterilize any gadget left in it.
The G90 is also enjoyable to drive. The brake pedal can be a bit sensitive, but every other control has the ideal level of responsiveness, feeling nimble without being twitchy enough to bother people inside. The usual rear-wheel steering contributes to this sensation of nimbleness and makes urban maneuvering a snap.
The stop-start function is seamless when releasing the brake at a stoplight. However, if the system restarts the engine while the vehicle is still stationary, it is glaringly visible. For a car of this size, the EPA estimates the higher-output model will achieve 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the interstate. The cheaper, non-supercharged variant performs slightly better, with city and highway ratings of 18 and 26, respectively.
Informational entertainment and connectivity On a 12.3-inch display that also offers navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio, the current infotainment interface of the Genesis is rendered clearly; a separate 12.3-inch screen acts as a digital gauge display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also integrated but require a cord, which is an unusual requirement in this age of wireless connectivity. All models include a Bang & Olufsen stereo system, but the E-supercharged features an improved version with 23 speakers and a setting that simulates concert hall acoustics. Also included are a head-up display and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
features for safety and driver assistance. Standard driver-assistance features include automatic high beams and an adaptive cruise control system with lane-centering functionality. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites for further information on the G90's crash-test results. Key safety characteristics include forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, which are standard. Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist are standard. Adaptive cruise control with lane-centering is standard.
Maintenance and Warranty Coverage Genesis not only offers the longest warranty coverage in its segment, but it also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance and other bonuses, such as a gratis service in which the dealership will pick up and deliver the G90 for service on your behalf. The limited warranty period is five years or sixty thousand miles. The powertrain is covered by a 10-year or 100,000-mile warranty. Free maintenance is included for three years or 36,000 miles.
