With the sculptural 2023 Artura supercar, McLaren embraces the hybridized future of high performance. The newly introduced two-seater with a mid-mounted engine rides on a revolutionary lightweight base. It also combines the company's first twin-turbo V-6 with a battery-electric powertrain to create a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The pair produces 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque together. The estimated performance is emphasized by a 0–60 mph time of 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. Its exterior is unmistakably McLaren, with large air vents and scissor doors. In addition to a more upscale and roomier cabin than the 720S, the 2023 Artura provides a variety of convenience and driver-assistance options.

At first sight, the 2023 Artura appears just as one would anticipate a new McLaren to appear. However, a closer look reveals a deliberately nuanced progression of McLaren design concepts as opposed to a simple copy-and-paste of recognizable images, along with meticulous attention to aerodynamic detail. For instance, the vents near the front wheels divert turbulent air from the wheel wells downward so that it does not affect the airflow entering the rear engine intake vent. In addition, what appears to be a simple design line on the door actually conducts air from the front of the vehicle along the sills and into the rear cooling radiators.
The Artura appears tighter, more refined, and more composed in the metal than any preceding McLaren, with well-controlled surfaces, sharper detailing, and tighter panel gaps. Aluminum "superformed" parts make up the doors, rear clamshell, roof, and A-pillar. The hood is an aluminum stamping, while the front and rear quarter panels are composites.
The Artura is 0.25 inches longer overall than a McLaren 570S, but its wheelbase is 1.25 inches shorter, resulting in a subtly altered proportion. The suspension is also brand new. The hydraulically cross-linked technology utilized in the 720S, which was an advancement of the system used in the original McLaren Automotive MP4-12C, has been eliminated. In its stead comes a more conventional multilink front and rear suspension with switchable Comfort, Sport, and Track settings for the adaptive dampers. Cargo, Comfort, and Interior: Inside, the Artura reveals McLaren's preference for function over style. The cabin, however, is adorned with snazzier materials, such as leather and microsuede. The Artura is no exception to the company's minimalist cabin designs, which limit the use of physical switchgear and feature steering wheels devoid of buttons. The McLaren is equipped with standard power-adjustable seats and appears to have an exceptional outward view to enable drivers to position the vehicle accurately on the road or racetrack. Although not as spacious as the McLaren GT, the Artura's front trunk offers 6 cubic feet of capacity.
Infotainment and Connectivity: Although the infotainment system in a McLaren is often an afterthought for buyers, the Artura offers a big 8.0-inch touchscreen with conventional functions. This vehicle features Bluetooth connectivity, an integrated navigation system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a range of audio equipment. Those who wish to keep their vehicle as light as possible will choose a radio with fewer speakers, whereas others may opt for a more powerful surround-sound system.
The technology enables the Artura to recognize which tires are installed (gripper P Zero Corsa Cyber Tires and a winter tire are available as options) and display whether the tires are above or below their optimal operating temperature. The intelligent aspect of the Cyber Tire system is that it obtains temperature measurements straight from the tire, as opposed to the prevalent industry technique of measuring temperature at the wheel rim.
