With the sculptural 2023 Artura supercar, McLaren embraces the hybridized future of high performance. The newly introduced two-seater with a mid-mounted engine rides on a revolutionary lightweight base. It also combines the company's first twin-turbo V-6 with a battery-electric powertrain to create a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The pair produces 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque together. At first sight, the 2023 Artura appears just as one would anticipate a new McLaren to appear. However, a closer look reveals a deliberately nuanced progression of McLaren design concepts as opposed to a simple copy-and-paste of recognizable images, along with meticulous attention to aerodynamic detail. For instance, the vents near the front wheels divert turbulent air from the wheel wells downward so that it does not affect the airflow entering the rear engine intake vent. The Artura appears tighter, more refined, and more composed in the metal than any preceding McLaren, with well-controlled surfaces, sharper detailing, and tighter panel gaps.
