2024 GMC Yukon Review, Specs, Price

The 2024 GMC Yukon is a big SUV that fulfills its function effectively. It has three engine choices that are powerful enough for towing and hauling, including a fuel-efficient turbodiesel. It also offers a composed ride and a large cabin with plenty of freight and passenger capacity. This GMC is excellent for both short and long excursions because to all of these features. The full-size Yukon, which is made of the same enormous fabric as its Chevy counterparts, is as large and capable of transporting both passengers and freight, but it is marketed as having a nicer lifestyle. There are three rows of seats inside and can carry up to eight passengers. Although a bigger 420-hp V-8 is available, the standard engine is a 355-hp V-8. Choose the EPA-estimated 27 mpg turbo-diesel inline-six for the best fuel economy. Even the Denali and Denali Ultimate models of the Yukon, with their relatively high top-tier pricing, cannot compete with the luxury displayed by the Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade. Instead, as slightly better versions of their Chevrolet siblings, the Yukon and Yukon XL excel in their mid-range SLT and AT4 models.

For 2024, the full-size GMC Yukon is back essentially unaltered. For the 2025 model year, we anticipate a style update for the Yukon. Cost and Choosing a Purchase. Depending on the model and extras, the 2024 GMC Yukon/Yukon XL can cost anywhere from $60,195 to $99,045. SLE $60,195. The suggested SLT is $66,895. AT4 $73,500. $78,300 for Denali. $99,045 for Denali Ultimate. The well-equipped and more reasonably priced SLT is the better option, even though the rugged AT4 with its off-road gear and butch appearance and the opulent Denali with its hand-stitched leather interior seem the most alluring. Leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, 20-inch wheels, a power liftgate, and driver-assistance technologies are among the features that most buyers are searching for in a mid-range vehicle.

The 2024 Yukon handles with relative composure and steadiness considering its size. The steering is fairly responsive and light, and the ride remains smooth over most bumps in the road. Though this is to be expected in a large SUV, maneuverability can be challenging in confined situations, and considerable body roll can be noticed when making close bends. A 355-horsepower V8, a 420-horsepower V8, and a 277-horsepower turbocharged six-cylinder diesel are the available engine options. All models come with a 10-speed automatic transmission. With sufficient power for strong acceleration and respectable highway merging, the entry-level V8 is an excellent choice. The V8 with 420 horsepower is just as powerful and smooth. The V8s are more powerful than the 277-horsepower turbo-six, but it still has plenty of power and uses less fuel. All variants include rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission that is controlled by buttons on the dashboard. A two-speed transfer case, 20-inch all-terrain wheels with all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and an optional air suspension that can provide an additional two inches of ground clearance are all components of the off-road-focused AT4 model.

The GMC Yukon's maximum towing capability is 8400 pounds, although that needs a rear-wheel-drive vehicle with the 5.3-liter V-8. The 6.2-liter Yukon's maximum trailer rating is 8300 pounds, with the Duramax diesel not far behind at 8200 pounds. All of these ratings decrease by 200 pounds when four-wheel drive is added. Although it is not very fuel-efficient, the Yukon outperforms the previous generation vehicle in the city. The most fuel-efficient Yukons are those with the smaller 5.3-liter V-8 engine, which achieved ratings of 16 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the interstate, and 18 mpg overall. With ratings as high as 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, the turbo-diesel engine is unsurprisingly more efficient. The team Denali test vehicle achieved 20 mpg on the interstate fuel-economy test route at 75 mph.

All three rows provide appropriate headroom and leg space for people. As long as you have enough room to swing the large doors out, getting in and out of the Yukon is likewise simple. Third-row access is made easy by the lofty roof, wide door openings, and sliding second-row seats. Although the wide back pillars somewhat block your view, the front sight lines are fairly acceptable. In parking spaces, the 360-degree video technology that is offered is really helpful. The controls up front are a mix of virtual buttons and bulky real knobs and switches. While some are clustered and situated in peculiar locations, others are simple to identify without diverting your attention from the road. Finding the perfect driving posture is challenging due to the lack of additional seat adjustments, despite the driver's seat having a large sliding and height-adjustment range.

Available in a variety of flavors—from base SLE spec to luxurious Denali Ultimate—the Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL promise seating for up to eight passengers, although ordering the popular second-row captain's chairs will lower the total seating capacity to seven. Denali models offer a unique interior design with a wood-trimmed dashboard and hand-stitched leather upholstery. A novel power-sliding center console is available in SLT and AT4 models (it's standard on the Denali) and allows the driver to motor the center console back and forth over a 10-inch track to make room for bulkier first-row cargo such as a purse or backpack and stash other smaller items out of sight in hidden cubbies. All Yukon models come with a large infotainment display with GMC's latest infotainment interface and we've found the system easy to use. SLE, SLT, and AT4 models feature a display that stands tall in the center of the dashboard, but the Denali's is surrounded by bright chrome and is embedded in the dashboard for a more sophisticated look. Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration and a Wi-Fi hotspot are all standard equipment; navigation and a Bose audio system are both optional features.

A host of driver-assistance features are offered, but GMC only offers basic tech as standard, forcing buyers to pay extra for more advanced ones. For more information about the Yukon's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include: Standard automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning. Available lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist. Available adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.

GMC offers a warranty that's competitive with other rivals in the full-size SUV class but doesn't stand out in any meaningful way. The first maintenance visit is provided free of charge, but the Toyota Sequoia offers maintenance for a full two years or 25,000 miles. Limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles. Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles. Complimentary maintenance covers one visit in the first year.
