2025 Honda Prologue Review, Specs, Price
The Honda Prologue, the company's first electric car, is a respectable midsizer with amazing technology, plenty of interior space, and a nice range. The Prologue, which was co-developed with General Motors, lacks Honda's usual performance and agility but buys time as Honda builds its own range of EVs from the ground up. Perhaps the most significant distinction between the Prologue and the Blazer EV, apart from appearance and the badge on top of the dealership, is that the Honda has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which are not available on any of the more recent GM EVs. The switchgear in the Honda's cabin was obviously grabbed from the GM parts bin, and there is not much difference between the way these EV step-siblings drive. The Prologue lacks the driving vigor for which the Japanese carmaker is renowned, despite its capable performance. The ZDX, a GM-based EV that takes inspiration from the Cadillac Lyriq's more potent motors, is also available under Honda's prestige brand.
A more potent front-mounted electric motor is one of the upgrades made to the Prologue, increasing its overall output to 220 horsepower for versions with front-wheel drive and 300 horsepower for models with all-wheel drive. With the FWD Prologue now rated for 308 miles on a charge and the AWD variant rated for 294 miles, its range estimations also increase.
Depending on the specification and extras, the 2025 Honda Prologue might cost anywhere from $48,850 to $59,350. EX $48,850. $53,150 for the tour. Elite costs $59,350. Even the base Prologue model has great features like wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats. Honda's standard EX, Touring, and Elite trims are available here. However, since the Touring model has leather upholstery, a 12-speaker Bose radio, and memory seat settings, we believe it is worth the investment. However, since the front-wheel-drive variant has the longest predicted driving range (296 miles per charge), we would continue to use it.
It is important to understand that the 2025 Honda Prologue is not precisely a Honda. The Prologue employs a battery and General Motors electric motors, and it is built on the same architecture as the Chevrolet Blazer EV. Through this agreement, Honda is able to create its own range of electric vehicles and SUVs while also slipping into the EV discourse.
Ironically, the Blazer EV feels firmer and sportier, and it is more Honda-like than the Prologue. The Prologue has an 85-kWh battery pack and either a single 220-horsepower motor or an optional dual-motor configuration that generates 300 horsepower. Neither model is particularly fast, though the dual-motor model is. The ride is comfortable and smooth enough, but Honda's typically lively handling is absent. The heavy Prologue feels relatively dull, which is surprising considering that Honda engineers put the finishing touches on the suspension.
An 85.0-kWh General Motors battery pack is included in each Prologue model. The EPA estimates that the single-motor front-wheel-drive model has a range of 308 miles, whereas the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model loses some of that range for faster acceleration. The range-extending Elite has a rating of 283 miles per charge, while the all-wheel-drive EX and Touring trims are rated at 294 miles per charge. The Elite AWD achieved a real-world range of 240 miles in our testing of the 2024 model. On this real-world range test, we have not yet put the updated 2025 model through its paces. The Prologue's battery can be charged using a DC fast charger at a maximum rate of 155 kW, and Honda offers a home charging kit if you want to charge it in your garage.

Front-wheel-drive versions of the EX and Touring trims are the most efficient according to EPA estimates, both earning ratings of 113 MPGe city and 94 MPGe highway. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, the 2024 Prologue Elite achieved 75 MPGe, underperforming its highway rating of 84 MPGe. With class-leading legroom for the rear seats, ample headroom, and competitive cargo space, the Prologue is one of the largest electric SUVs with two rows available today. It seats five with plenty of elbow room and nearly 40 inches of space for legs and feet in the back row. Some critics say the seats are flat and lack support or side bolstering, but overall, the Prologue earns praise for its roominess, interior quality and uncluttered console and dash design.
Even though the Prologue is longer and has more space than most of its rivals, it only has an average cargo capacity of 25.2 cubic feet. That is slightly more than the Niro EV and comparable to the larger Kia EV6, but despite being longer than all of them, it is less than the Ioniq 5, ID.4, and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Folding the rear seats more than doubles the maximum cargo space to 57.7 cubic feet. Standard features include a power liftgate and a hands-free power tailgate.
An 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen stands proudly in the center of the Prologue's dashboard. It has an in-dash navigation system that uses Google Maps and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, unlike the Blazer EV, which does not have these smartphone-mirroring functions. A wireless smartphone charging pad and an 11.0-inch digital gauge display are also included as standard features; a head-up display is an option, but only for the top-tier Elite trim. Touring and Elite models come equipped with a 12-speaker Bose stereo system that includes tweeter speakers in the A-pillars of the Prologue.
All Prologue models come with a suite of driver-assistance features called Honda Sensing. Basic features like automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning are included in this package, as are more advanced features like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. Key safety features include: Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Standard adaptive cruise control.
The Prologue has the same standard warranty as all other new Honda models, which is similar to what is offered by other mainstream automakers' electric SUVs. As an added bonus, Honda's standard coverage package includes two years of free scheduled maintenance. Three years or 36,000 miles are covered by the limited warranty. The powertrain warranty covers 60,000 miles or five years. The guarantee for electric components is eight years or 100,000 miles. Two years or 24,000 miles of free upkeep are covered.
