Porsche essentially created the high-performance SUV segment by applying its proven sports car knowledge to create inspiring, driver-focused crossovers and SUVs like the 2025 Macan GTS.  The smaller sibling to the Cayenne, the Macan comes packed with a 434-hp twin-turbo V-6, standard all-wheel drive, and unlike the purebred Cayman sports car, a useable back seat and a cargo hold.  Granted, it trades a little backseat headroom for a more rakish profile, but that's a heck of deal when you consider the GTS hit 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and hauled to a stop from 70 mph in a remarkable 141 feet during C/D testing. the Macan is a Porsche first, and a people- and stuff-hauler second; consider it a quick, agile, and responsive vehicle that just happens to have a little extra room for passengers and cargo when absolutely necessary.

The price of the 2025 Porsche Macan GTS starts at $90,995.  The Macan GTS comes well-equipped with performance goodies right out of the gate, but we think the SUV's luxury is a bit lacking.  So, we'd order the Premium Plus package, which includes a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated 14-way adjustable front seats, and a 14-speaker Bose stereo system.

Although the base Macan (reviewed separately) is available with a turbocharged four-cylinder, going with the higher-performance GTS gets you a much more powerful 434-hp twin-turbo V-6.  Several rivals offer even more power, including the 505-hp Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio and the 503-hp BMW X3 M Competition.  Despite the disadvantage in power, though, the Macan GTS feels like the more accomplished option thanks to its crisper handling and more communicative helm.

 The Porsche Macan is a very enjoyable vehicle to drive. Rather than feeling bulky like some SUVs, the Macan handles more like a sports car.  Its precise steering and excellent brakes are also nice perks in this segment.  The Macan’s compact size makes it easy to maneuver in tight spots.  All-wheel drive is standard in all trims.

The Macan's base turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 261 horsepower, facilitates rapid acceleration and provides ample highway passing power. For much livelier performance, opt for one of the available twin-turbocharged V6 engines found in the Macan S and GTS that produce 375 and 434 horsepower, respectively.  Zero to 60 mph times range from 6 seconds for the base model with the 261-horsepower four-cylinder down to 4.3 seconds with the GTS and its 434-horsepower V6.  A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission comes standard, and it works well but can sometimes struggle to keep up with aggressive driving.  The Macan's power delivery, handling agility, and ride quality can all be improved with a variety of performance upgrades, but each comes at a high price.

The Macan GTS delivered an impressive 3.5-second 60-mph time at team test track. That's quick, but so is the slightly less powerful Macan S, which did the same in 3.8 seconds. The 2025 Macan and Macan T return 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Expect 17/23 mpg city/highway from the S trim. From there, the GTS sees a 1 mpg drop in highway fuel economy. No matter how you slice it, these are below-average fuel economy estimates.

While entry-level Macans can be a bit too spartan for their price, the GTS model comes with more niceties such as leather upholstery, aluminum trim, and heated front seats. The Macan GTS aims for maximum fun, with well-placed controls, good outward visibility, and a comfortable driving position. Its cargo hold isn't as large as some of its rivals, but when has buying a Porsche ever been a rational choice? We fit six carry-on bags in the cargo bay and 16 with the rear seats folded, which should be enough for most people.

The Macan's ride is firmer than that of most other small luxury SUVs; you will feel bumps and imperfections in the road, but it is not harsh or uncomfortable; models with the available air suspension have a smoother ride; if comfort is a priority, it is worth getting. The same is true of the front seats; the base seats are firm and unadjustable and are not the best for long drives; seats with more adjustability are available, but it is unfortunate that you have to pay extra for them. The climate system functions and the controls are simple, but the vent placement makes it occasionally difficult to feel the air entering the cabin, and you will be able to hear the fans whirring away; road and wind noise is not as well muted as in other luxury SUVs; and the base four-cylinder engine can sound rough at times.

Porsche Macan infotainment system offers all manner of high-tech features, including standard Apple CarPlay and a wireless charging pad. Still, as with nearly everything on the Macan's equipment list, the best features for cost extra. Upgrading to the 14-speaker Bose audio system adds $990, and the even more powerful 16-speaker Burmester stereo is a whopping $5690 option. USB ports and 12-volt outlets dot the cabin, so driver and passengers alike should be able to keep their devices fully charged. With the standard mobile Wi-Fi package onboard, the family data plan might be able to escape a road trip unscathed too.

Although there are many different driver-assistance technologies available for the 2025 Macan GTS, nearly none of them are standard.
